Inside the Animal Power Challenge: Community, Training, Mindset

Alright everyone, Ryan Mackins here.

If you’ve been following what we do here at Animal UK, you know we don’t just talk the talk behind a screen. We get out there and put the work in. We hit the road to find out who’s really training hard when the lights aren't on and the cameras aren't rolling. That’s exactly what the Animal Power Challenge is all about.

We’ve been bringing this event to local gyms all over the UK. No frills, just heavy weights, and a room full of people ready to push past their limits. Recently, we set up shop at Beefs & Babes and Crayford Weights & Fitness. If you were there, you already know the vibe. If you weren’t, let me take you inside the event.

The Community: Stronger Together.

When you step into a proper local gym for an Animal Power Challenge, the first thing that hits you isn't the smell of sweat or the clanking of plates—it’s the energy. The Animal Pak has always been about the camaraderie you find on the gym floor.

At Beefs & Babes, we saw people who had never met before screaming for each other to get that extra rep. It doesn’t matter if you’re pulling 100kg or 300kg; respect is earned by the effort you put out, not just the weight on the bar. You aren't just competing against the weight or the clock; you're feeding off the raw energy of the community. We lift each other up. That’s the Animal way.

The Training: Brute Strength Meets Relentless Endurance.

Let’s get one thing straight: the Animal Power Challenge isn't just a standard 1RM powerlifting meet. We want to see what you’re made of when fatigue sets in and your grip starts going. It’s a true, gritty test of both strength and endurance.

At Crayford Weights & Fitness, the setup was brutal. We’re talking grueling rep challenges, heavy carries, and medleys designed to break you down. To survive this, your training needs to be bulletproof. You need the raw, baseline power to move a heavy load, but the cardiovascular engine and muscular endurance to keep it moving when your body tells you to quit. It’s about being a complete athlete—powerful, relentless, and unyielding.

The Mindset: Dig Deep.

You can have the best training program in the world, take your Animal Pak every morning, and nail your macros, but when you're 60 seconds into a brutal strength-endurance medley, your body is going to want to give up. That’s where the mind takes over.

Mindset is everything. In those moments at the Power Challenge, you have to dig deep. You have to shut out the pain, grip the bar, and refuse to fail. The athletes who stand out at these local gym events aren't always the biggest guys or girls in the room—they're the ones with the most grit. They are the ones who refuse to drop the weight.

What’s next?

The Animal Power Challenge is a reminder of why we do this. It’s for the love of training, the pursuit of greatness, and the bond we share in the gym. Beefs & Babes and Crayford Weights & Fitness set a massive standard, but we’re not stopping here.

We’re taking the Animal Power Challenge to more local gyms across the UK. So keep your head down, keep your training heavy, and make sure you’re ready when the Pak rolls into your town.

Train hard, stay focused, and I’ll see you at the next one.
